It is with deep sadness that the family of Christina Louise Rothwell (Horwitz) announces her passing after a brief battle with cancer, on Friday, February 1, 2019. She was 49 years old. She will be remembered with love by her surviving family; Frieda Horwitz-mother, Juanita Britt-grand mother, Darby Thompson (Patricia)-son, Casey Thompson-son, Shannon Morrow (Jason)-sister, Joseph Horwitz-brother, Amilliea Thompson-granddaughter, Gunner Thompson-grandson, Grady Grantham-nephew, Gracie Grantham-niece, and Pat Padgett-significant other.

She was preceeded in death by Clarence “Cliff” Britt-grandfather and Stuart Rothwell-father. Christina’s family and friends will come together on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at 4 p.m. at JeffcoatTrant Funeral Home, 1500 Frederick Road Opelika, Alabama for a memorial service to show their love, share their support, and celebrate her life. She was a member of the 1988 graduating class of Lee-Scott Academy in Auburn, Alabama.

After a brief time away she returned to the Auburn area permanently in 1993. she touched many lives during her years of work at area assisted living facilities. She donated blood and platelets to the American Red Cross regularly.

She enjoyed making “Angel Bags” to give to people in need. She was a devoted home care provider in her spare time and formed close friendships with Kevin Bell and Dr. Scott Renner who both preceded her in death. She was a member Of the Lakeview Baptist Church family and, along with her co-workers at Rexnord Couplings, has many close friends who all surrounded her with love and support during her illness.

Christina lived her life according to teachings of the Bible that she loved. She treated everyone around her with love, respect, and generosity. Her life was filled with love, joy, and service to others.

She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and aunt. She took pride in every member of her family, but especially in her two sons that she gave thanks for everyday of their lives. She was a wonderful “Mimi” to the two grandchildren who lit up her life.

Christina will be lovingly remembered by every person who’s lives she touched: she made each of us better. In lieu of flowers, those that desire, may make a memorial donation to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or the American Red Cross The family has set up a Go Fund Me page to assist with medical bills and funeral costs.
