Christine (Lyzenga) Lane, 96, of Whitinsville passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at St. Camillus Health Center, Whitinsville. She was the wife of the late John H. Lane, who passed in 2010.

Mrs. Lane had been a nurse at several nursing homes in the area for many years before retiring. She was born May 14, 1922, in the Netherlands, daughter of the late Mient and Baukje (Ross) Lyzenga and attended nursing school in the Netherlands. Later, she resided in South Yarmouth and Douglas. She was a longtime member of the Fairlawn Christian Reformed Church in Whitinsville and was active with the church’s Ladies Society Bible study. Mrs. Lane leaves behind her children Barbara Van Reed and her husband Cliff of Douglas, Magdalena Dakin and Bob DeLange of Whitinsville, Atty.

Henry Lane and his wife Faith of Whitinsville, Michael Lane and his wife Estela of Linneus of Maine, David Lane of Whitinsville, and her sister Jantina Meindertsma of the Netherlands, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lane’s hobbies included sewing, gardening, and going to the beach, but she especially enjoyed reading, Bible studies, and conversations ranging from public affairs to eschatology. She will also be remembered for her love of singing, evangelizing, and laughing with family and friends.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-3 PM on Saturday, Dec. 22, in the Buma Funeral Home at 480 Church St., Whitinsville. A memorial service will follow at 3 PM in the funeral home.
