Christine Lee Puchel, 74, of Ashford, loving mother, sister, mentor, and educator, died on Thursday, October 23, 2018. She was born on May 25, 1944 to the late John and Edith (Robida) Puchel. A proud University of Connecticut graduate with majors in Chemical Engineering and Physical Science, Chris had a life-long love affair with learning.

She also took extreme pride in her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandson. Chris’ interests were limitless, but included reading about multiple subjects; computer science, genetics, mathematics, and research and development on the latest happenings. Her latest endeavor included working on a manuscript and following her favorite sports teams.

Chris took fashion advice from no one. Her signature look was a pair of comfortable jeans, a button-down shirt, and a black cowboy hat, showing us all that it is what you do that defines you, not what you wear. She was a member of the American Chemical Society, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and The Smithsonian.

Chris is survived by her daughter, Lisa; grandchildren, Megan, Emily, Olivia, and Nicholas; great grandson, Joshua; sister, Mary; brothers, Leigh, Jeff, Noel and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Cliff. There will be no calling hours, however, the family would like relatives and friends to contact them regarding a reception at a later date.
