Obituary Service Details Christopher J. Haas, age 98, of Shiloh, IL formerly of Fairview Heights, IL, born on September 30, 1920 in East St. Louis, IL, died on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Liberty Village, Maryville, IL. Christopher was a United States WWII Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. He was Chief Electrician for 17 years with Alcoa Aluminum, then for Obear-Nester Glass for 19 years, both in East St. Louis, IL and finally retired from American Steel in Granite City, IL after 8 years.

Christopher was a charter member of Charles Fricke VFW Post #8475 and he later joined VFW Post #805 O’Fallon, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Haas, nee Simon; his son, William Haas; his grandchildren, Thomas J. Morse and Jeffrey S. Haas; his parents, William and Ellen, nee Fitzgerald, Haas; and his sisters, Marie DuBois and Ruby Volpert. Christopher is survived by his daughters, Barbara A. (Randy) Morse of Troy, IL, Diane M. (J.C.) Wilson of Lebanon, IL and Chris Ann (Brian) Arcynski of Trenton, IL; his daughter-in-law, Donna Haas of Milstadt, IL; his grandchildren, Bill (Julie) Haas, Jr., of St. Peters, MO, Robert Haas, Sr., Milstadt, IL, Nicholas J. (Aimee) Morse of Belleville, IL, J.C. Wilson III of Lebanon, IL, Jennifer Witt of Lebanon, IL, Jessica Arcynski of Highland, IL, and Christopher J. Arcynski (Rita Loyd) of Los Angeles, CA; and his great-grandchildren, Robert Haas, Jr., Blake Stafford, Devon Witt, Cammy Haas, Gavin Arcynski-Merkle, and Gwenevere “Gwenna” Morse.

He was also our loving uncle and friend. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or to Spencer Pet Rescue, O’Fallon, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd. Fairview Heights, IL.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL with Fr. Jim Nall officiating.

Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL. Charitable donations may be made to: American Heart Association Spencer Pet Rescue O’Fallon IL 62269 There’s still time to send flowers to the Visitation at the Kassly Mortuary from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on January 4, 2019.
