Christopher Paul Bostick, or ‘Sticks’ as he was affectionately called by friends, passed away at his home In Dewitt, NY at 5:21 am May 3rd, 2019, after a long illness. He was born in Flushing, NY, the first born of Emily and Glyn Bostick on December 3rd, 1951. He was a graduate of the class of1970 at Jamesville-Dewitt Highschool.
Chris exhibited artistic talent at any early age, first drawing bugs and trees in great detail. He then went on to distinguish himself in full body characters with signature comedic style. Working in the paint and shipping departments, of the family’s electronic businesses, first Microwave Filter Company (1971-1994) and later Communications and Energy Corp, (1996-close) Chris’s first sketches appeared in product catalogs, and sales fliers.
In 1998 Chris took over management of C & E after the death of his father. In 2010, at a high school reunion, Chris’s art talents found new opportunity when he was engaged by a website designer andhigh school friend, , to produce images. This the art would be for corporate events, national sports teams and chain restaurantson T shirts and other clothing and accessories.
His talent inspired Retro Syracuse, a nostalgic page for legendary Central New York businesses and eateries, custom images that provided colorful walks back in time. Chris was front and centerof a feature story about successful local businesses in the Syracuse Post Standard in April 2012. Pretty soon Chris’ work was noticed and appreciated at the History of Physical Culture website.
He became artistic director the-creating image and copy for online flip books about weight lifting. Chris was a trained weight lifter, and understood the need for plain spoken and well-illustrated guides for the sport. He was gifted at designs of weight systems also.
Before his failing health, he had started crafting three-dimensional clayfigurines, and meeting demand for one for a kind creation, inspired by his work. He had a big heart too, which shone brightly in the caregiving ofclose family, whom he nurtured until their deaths. ; Glyn Bostick, D.O.D 1997, his mother, Emily Bostick D.O.D 2010 and younger brother Dave, D.O.D, May 2018.
, Chris is survived by his sister, Diane Bostick (Magella Servant), a brother Daniel Bostick, nephews, Nathan and Joshua Bostick,,(Janine Hudun) , and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, and countless friends and admirers spread across the world. There will be a memorial service for Chris June 8th at_Forani -Matheson funeral chapel in East Syracuse on June 8th at 2:00 pm-4:00pm. The service is open to the public, friends and family, followed by a light fare and open bar at the Spinning Wheel Restaurant in North Syracuse, one of Chris’s favorites.
A private family interment will be conducted at a later date at White Chapel Memory Garden in Syracuse Rest in Peace, Sticks, we will never forget you!
