OBITUARY Christopher Shawn Laird November 28, 1979 – August 29, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Christopher Shawn Laird was born on November 28, 1979 in Hanford, California and passed away on August 29, 2018 in Visalia, California. Celebration Services are scheduled as follows: Thursday, September 13th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Visitation at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA Friday, September 14th at 4:00 p.m. – Celebration of Life Service at First Baptist Church; 9125 13 ½ Avenue, Hanford, CA 92320. After the service, everyone is invited to The Fraternal Hall located at 1015 N. 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230, to continue celebrating Chris’ life.

Chris is survived by his fiancée Tifany and their children, Katelyn, Joey, and Zachariah; his father, Lawrence Alan Laird Sr. and wife Crystal Laird; his mother, Dana Forsythe and husband James Forsythe Sr.; his older brother Lawrence Alan Laird Jr. and wife Jenifer Laird; younger brother Kyle Laird and younger sister Elizabeth Forsythe; grandfather Gerald Laird and wife Joyce; and grandmother Bertie Hakker. Chris grew up in First Baptist Church in Hanford and was an active participant in the Church community. He was a member of the youth choir and enjoyed playing the drums during the worship service every Sunday.

The Church family, which he held close to his heart, stayed with him for the rest of his life. Chris graduated from Hanford High School in 1998 and was self-employed for 17 years with Fibertech. Chris was an avid camper, hiker, and angler; he always loved being in the mountains.

His passion for music encouraged him to become a dedicated vocalist, drummer, guitarist, and pianist. He was always ready to use his skills and teach anyone who asked. He also enjoyed many forms of racing; from motocross, to shifter karts, to NASCAR – NASCAR being his favorite.

Chris was also a long time 49er and Giants fan. Chris recently developed a new passion for kayak bass fishing in Yakabass, CVKF, and KBF tournaments. He put his all into researching, learning, and trying new techniques to better himself and catch the biggest fish.

Chris was always willing to lend a helping hand. He offered advice and told people what he thought regardless of the outcome. He had an impact on so many people’s lives and was always there to encourage and support everyone around him.

He was a genuine person, a caring son, a loving brother, a loving father, a supportive friend, and a great man. He had an infectious smile and would drop everything if anyone asked him for help. He will truly be missed.
