Clara C. Ferderer, 91, longtime resident of New Salem, ND, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2018 at Mountrail Bethel Home, Stanley, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at St. Pius Catholic Church, New Salem, ND with Rev. John Guthrie as celebrant and Rev.

Jerome Kautzman as concelebrant. Burial will be at St. Pius Catholic Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Clara was born on November 1, 1927 to Emil and Margaret (Miller) Kautzman. Clara was raised and educated in the Judson and New Salem area. She married Joseph Ferderer in New Salem, ND on June 13, 1949.

Clara worked as a seamstress in New Salem, doing everything from patching clothes and making alterations to sewing prom dresses and wedding gowns. She sewed cheerleader uniforms for New Salem High School for many years. Clara also sewed pillows, bears, and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.

Sewing was not just work for Clara, she loved and enjoyed it. Clara enjoyed baking, treating her family and friends to delicious treats. She also loved to read, garden, and most of all, laugh.

Clara is survived by her children, Judy (Bruce), Seattle, WA, Marilyn (John) Gaebe, Stanley, ND, and Ken (Molly) Savage, MN; brothers, Jim (Pat) Kautzman, New Salem, ND, Ben Kautzman, Lisbon, ND, Ed (Geri) Kautzman, Mandan, and Steve (Ida) Kautzman, Mandan; sisters, Minnie, Colorado, Peggy, Colorado, and Eleanor, California; sister-in-law, Virginia Kautzman; grandchildren, Josh and Melanie Gaebe, Sarah Hoff, Kyle and Katie Ferderer, Mike and Matt Kraft, and Annie Schaffer; 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Clara is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; brothers, David, Jack, and Kenneth; and son, Robert. The family would like to thank the staff at Bethel Home for the years of excellent care they provided Clara.
