Mrs. Claudette Hairston Cobb Hampton October 28, 1938 – December 12, 2018 Reidsville – Mrs. Claudette Hampton, the beloved wife of James Hampton, departed this life on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, she attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1957. She was a retiree of Cone Health and was a member of New Hope Christian Center.

Her parents, Cornelius Ross Hairston Yourse and Robert Hairston, Sr.; step-daughter, Renee Mebane; siblings, Charles Hairston, Sr., Robert Hairston, Jr., Thomas Hairston, Tommy Hairston and Mary Winchester, preceded her in death. Survivors are: beloved husband, James Hampton; daughters, Apostle Marilyn Neblett and Cheryl Hampton; sons, Gregory Cobb (Tynesha), Michael Cobb, Sr. (Phyllis) and Michael Cobb, Jr. (Kelly); 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; step-daughters, Susanne Hampton, She’Lia Brown, Wanda Hampton and Angie Cobb (Sammie); step-sons, James Hampton, Jr. (Jeneen), Perry Hampton, Jamie Hampton (Lisha) and Kenneth Hampton; foster daughter, Nettie Totten; brother, James Hairston (Annie Bell); sisters-in-law, Betty Hairston, Nancy Hairston, Margaret Hampton and Gazelle Thomas (Ralph); brother-in-law, Willie Hampton; special friends, Mary D. Gravely and Gregory “Buck” Hairston; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2018 from the First Baptist Church, 401 Hubbard Street with Dr. Joseph A. Bryant presiding and Apostle Marilyn Neblett as the eulogist.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Her remains are in the care of Johnson & Sons.
