OBITUARY Claytie Abrahams August 1, 1925 – July 4, 2018 Claytie Evelyn Abrahams, age 92, was born August 1, 1925 and passed away July 4, 2018 with her husband, Edward, at her bedside. Claytie was born in Cook County, Texas and passed away in Houston, Texas. She is now with her parents, Wiley Sr. and Willie Viola Hudson, four brothers, JB, Paul, Douglas, Wiley Jr. and one sister, Lorene, in the care of their Savior, Jesus Christ.

Claytie and Edward were married June 22, 1943 and their 75th anniversary was celebrated June 22, 2018. Theirs was a young love that grew and matured as they grew older. They enjoyed their life together whether at home or vacationing with friends, enjoying many cruises and yearly trips to Branson seeing at least ten shows in a week during their stay.

They have one daughter, Janet Gail, who made their lives a real joy and who they love very much. Janet married Tom Martin, a man we love and admire, and they have one son, Scott and twin daughters, Kristen and Lauren. Scott is married to Courtney and their children are Coby and Kerby.

Kristen is married to Mike Lawler and their children are Mikey, Grey and Ayers. Lauren is married to Andrew Taylor and their children are Alexander and Peter, Claytie and Edward have many family members they admire and love. Claytie and Edward attend St. Stephens United Methodist Church and are members of the Adult Bible Class.

Claytie was much admired for her love of flowers, having won yard of the month several times. She was also known for her floral arrangements and at one time had a small business known as Claytie’s Designs. She also loved interior decorating.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her Grandma Claytie, a name also known to the Women’s Swim Team at the University of Texas for whom Lauren swam. We also want to thank the staff at Pathways Memory Care for their care of Claytie during her stay at their facility. In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations be made in Claytie’s name to St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 2003 W. 43rd Street, Houston, TX 77018, Marked: Teen Programs.

A memorial service for Claytie will be held Satuday, July 28, 2018, at Brookside Funeral Home-Champions, 3410 Cypress Creek Pkwy (FM 1960 at TC Jester) at 11:30AM. Further announcements will be forthcoming.
