Clive Wells M Clelland Jr, January 19, 1924 — May 02, 2019

Our dearly loved father, Clive Wells McClelland, Jr., 95, went home to be with Jesus when he passed away peacefully at Songbird Lodge in Brownwood TX, on May 2nd, 2019. He was born in Brownwood in 1924 to Clive Wells McClelland, Sr. and Mary Helen Green. His grandfather was Brainard Taylor McClelland, a local Presbyterian minister, founder of Daniel Baker College and co-founder of the Union Presbyterian Church, all in Brownwood, Texas.

He is survived by his four children, Pamela Sue Erickson of Henderson NV, Clive Wells McClelland III of Lynchburg VA, Robin McClelland Metzger of The Woodlands TX, and David Beck McClelland of Round Rock TX, as well as eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren in Texas, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Washington. He was best known as a music teacher who loved jazz. He was band director in many schools: Wellington TX, Prescott AR, Gatesville TX, Brownwood TX, and Fort Garland CO.

He also played many musical instruments, especially the trombone in high school, in a group called “Clive and the Lively Five,” and in the US Navy Band in World War II. The gift of his love of music was given to his children and grandchildren, many of whom continue playing musical instruments to this day. He especially loved and was very devoted to his wife of 65 years, Mary Elizabeth Wallace McClelland who passed away in 2017.
