Clyde Jerome (Jerry) Skinner, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend passed away on March 13, 2019. He was born May 14, 1927 to Paul and Pauline Skinner. They had four sons, Jerome, Wayne, Donnie and Danny.
In 1951, Jerome was wed to Hamey Pace Skinner. Jerome was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served our country for almost 8 years. He worked at Ford Motor Company in Hapeville, Georgia for 36 years, retiring in 1989.
Jerome and Hamey resided in College Park, Georgia, where they raised their 4 children and were faithful members of First Baptist Church of College Park. Jerome’s wife Hamey passed away in 1995 after 43 years of marriage. Jerome married long-time family friend Frances Whelchel in 1996 and they resided in Orlando, Florida for the remainder of his life.
Jerome and Frances were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Orlando. Jerome lived a loving, long and full life of 91 years and will be greatly missed. Jerome is survived by Frances Yates Skinner, his wife of 22 years; his brother Danny Skinner and Danny’s wife Sandra; his sisters-in-law Janice and Erna Skinner; Jerome’s 4 children, Cheryl Skinner Korn and Cheryl’s husband, Joe, their 7 children- Lindsey, Staci, Jennifer, William, Jason, Jacob, and Jessica; their 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild; Sheree Skinner Elliott and Sheree’s husband, Bobby, their 4 children- Robert, Nathan, Amanda and Suzanne; and their 2 grandchildren; Jerry Skinner, Jr., and Jerry’s wife, Mandy, their 3 children -Kyle, Kera, and Logan; Phillip Skinner and his wife, Rhonda, their 2 sons – Peyton and Cade; Frances’ son, Steve Whelchel; Frances’ daughter Gina Whelchel and Gina’s husband, Scott Malzestiti, their twin daughters – Matilda and Poppy.
The visitation and memorial service for Jerome will be Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Parrott Funeral Home, 8355 Senoia Road, Fairburn, Georgia. Visitation will be at from 12:30pm to 2pm with the memorial service starting at 2:00pm. A private family graveside service for Jerome will follow at College Park Cemetery, College Park, Georgia.
An additional service will be planned for family and friends in Orlando to celebrate Jerome’s life.
