Our Dear Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away peacefully February 27, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was 84 years old. Connie was born October 14, 1934 in Cedar City, Utah to Lester Nelson and Alice Halterman Gower.

Growing up, she loved to spend time with her family picnicking in the mountains and meadows her father called, “God’s Country”. Connie graduated from Cedar City High School, and attended the College of Southern Utah, where she met her handsome-basketball player- husband, Douglas Moore Stoker. The couple was married April 21, 1955 in the St. George Temple; and together raised four children.

Connie worked for the State of Nevada, as an Administrative Assistant for many years. She loved planting flowers around her house, up the sidewalks and driveways. She kept a beautiful, immaculate home.

Her greatest accomplishments were as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Throughout her life, Connie selflessly sacrificed her wants and needs, for the greater good of her children. She put aside her own needs and took care of her husband, Douglas, during his long illness; while she, herself, was in extreme pain.

In later years, the “light of her life” was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Oh, how she loved game nights and family dinners, and being teased with funny hats and glasses, and risqué stories. She loved it when the “little ones” visited her at Beehive, to brighten her days.

As Connie’s children, we can honestly say that everything good we have become, goes back to what we were taught in our home, growing up. Connie is survived by her children Sylvia Denning (Albert), Douglas C. Stoker (Annette), Mitchell Stoker (Ronda), Kent G. Stoker (Tammy), and beloved sister, Jeanene Carey, 15 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by many that she loved, including her husband, Douglas M. Stoker, and her brother, Gerald (Jerry) Gower.

We express our sincere gratitude to the medical staff at Nathan Adelson Hospice, for their tender and compassionate care. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 11:00 AM, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Pacific Chapel, 567 Pacific Ave. , Henderson, Nevada.
