Cora’s Obituary Cora Irene Thompson, 80, of New Philadelphia, formerly a 47 year resident of Massillon, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018, in Dover, following a recent illness. Born December 19, 1938 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late James and Marguerite Marie (Bradley) Bowe. Cora was a 1956 graduate of Uhrichsville High School before beginning her 32 year career with Montgomery Ward’s.

She was Methodist by faith, enjoyed golfing, bowling, crafting, dancing, working in her flower garden and going to lunch with her friends. On March 19, 1958, she married William Homan “Sonny” Thompson with whom she enjoyed 55 years of marriage until his passing on May 24, 2013. The last of her generation, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, James Bowe, Jr., Alice Marlene Craig, Robert Leroy Bowe and Melvin Thomas Bowe, in addition to her parents and husband.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews; a dear friend, Erma Walton; and her dog and best friend, Charlie. According to Cora’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation or service. She will be interred, along with her beloved husband, in Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery in Gnadenhutten.
