Cora N. Hammarstrom, age 97, of Genoa City, WI, died on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Geneva Lake Manor in Lake Geneva, WI. The former Cora Agnes Nottingham was born on December 15, 1920 in San Diego, California, the only child of the late Wells B. Nottingham LTJG and Edith nee (Linder) Nottingham. She traveled most of her youth with her parents, as her father was in the United States Navy.

She attended schools in the United States, China and the Philippine Islands. On April 19, 1941, she was united in marriage to Howard Hammarstrom in Chicago, IL. Cora and Howard farmed the family farm in Bloomfield Township along with owning and operating Hammarstrom Electric for 45 years.

Cora was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Genoa City where she served as Financial Secretary. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star #148 of Walworth, WI where she was a member for over 50 years and a perpetual member. She was a lifelong member and a past President of the Bloomfield Center V.F.W Auxiliary #5830 in Pell Lake, WI and of the First District V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was also a member of the Sponholtz-Deignan American Legion Post #183 Auxiliary of Genoa City for over 40 years. Cora was an avid swimmer all of her life and was the first female life guard at Pell Lake. She enjoyed travel immensely and visited five of the seven continents one being Antarctica at the age of 90.

Cora is survived by two sons, Daren R. Hammarstrom and Clifford H. (Barbara) Hammarstrom of Genoa City; 2 daughters, Judith S. (Ernie) Fleischer of Nekoosa, WI and Janet A. Hammarstrom of Genoa City, WI; daughter in law, Judith Flood of Pell Lake, WI; seven grandchildren John Fleischer (Susan Keisler), Brenda (Eric) Draaijer, Kim (Curt) Andresen, Dawn (Todd) Dunford, Brian Hammarstrom, Nicholas Hammarstrom and Nathan Hammarstrom, one great granddaughter Ashley (Simohammad) Benyamina, and three great grandsons Cody (Brandy) Fleischer, Clinton Andresen and Colton Andresen and a great great granddaughter, Annabelle Fleischer She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard on July 31, 1998, son, Howard W. “Skip” Hammarstrom, daughter in law, Jeanne Hammarstrom and grandson Scott Crager. A Memorial service will be held at the family farm June 16, 2018 at 11:00 am with refreshments to follow. Online condolences may be given at Haaselockwoodfhs.com.
