Obituary for Corey J. Southard WENHAM- Corey J. Southard, 35, passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2018. Born in Melrose on November 21, 1982, he was the son of Charles H. Southard III and the late Julie (Cause) Southard. Corey was raised and educated in Topsfield and graduated from Masconomet High School in 2001.

He attended Colby Sawyer College, Maine College of Art and also earned a degree from Boston University in 3D animation digital design. Corey reveled and found joy, peace and solace in the beauty of nature and had traveled extensively, from hiking on Mt Rainer, the Grand Canyon to Tuckerman’s Ravine. While respecting nature he was a skilled jeep off roader and mountain biker.

Most recently he has been an intricate part of the family business doing interior spatial design along with customer and vendor relations. For those who crossed his path he was known as a personable young man with a beautiful smile and for those who knew him best he was known for his heart of gold, his love of live music and his unyielding commitment to family. We are deeply saddened by his sudden passing but comforted by knowing he is reunited with his beautiful Mom.

In addition to his father, Corey is survived by his brother, Chaz Southard, his aunts and uncles, Barbara and Hank MacKenzie of FL, Patty Price of FL and Sharon and Dana D’Aloisio of Saugus and his cousin Meredith Tyack of Michigan along with numerous cousins in California and the Southard family of dear and loving extended friends. Corey’s family will receive friends and family from 3-6pm on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Corey’s name to Boston Children’s Hospital / FM Kirby Neurobiology Center childrenshospital.org for researching cures and treatments of spinal cord and brain injuries.
