She was born on September 16th 1921 In Havana Cuba. She was a teacher there until she emigrated to the United States in 1966 with her family.

She continued her passion for teaching for years in Brooklyn, New York before eventually settling down with her family in Oak Ridge, NJ in 2001. Cornelia will best be remembered always for her love of teaching , cooking , telling stories about Cuba and the appreciation she had for the time she spent with family. Cornelia was predeceased by her beloved husband and former Mayor of La Salud, Cuba, Baldomero Valladares.

Her parents Esparanza and Pedro Rodriguez, her dear brother Pedro Zenen Rodriguez and dear sister and companion Nieves Valdes. She is survived by her dear Nephew Daniel Valdes and his wife, Cindy; their children Daniel Jr and Melissa of Oak Ridge. Her dear niece, Hortensia Rodriguez and her children Jennifer and Michael of Florida and many great great grand nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, March 13th 2019 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 La Rue Road, Newfoundland, New Jersey 07435 ( For GPS use 1 Post Place). A Prayer service will take place on Thursday, March 14th 2019 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Immediately following the prayer service, Cornelia will be interred beside her brother Pedro in Oceanview Cemetery in Staten Island, New York.
