OBITUARY Craig Anthony Wooten April 10, 1962 – October 24, 2018 It is with deeply saddened hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved brother, son, father, and friend, Craig Anthony Wooten. Craig was born on April 10, 1962 and was the youngest of four children in our family. Craig went to St. Ambrose Catholic School, then to St. Pius X High School for his freshman, sophomore, and junior year.
His senior year was at S.P. Waltrip Sr. High School. Craig loved playing football and baseball in his younger years at the Oaks Dads Club in the Oak Forest area where he grew up. He also played high school football and baseball.
Following his school years, Craig worked in the coffee and vending business and eventually had a company of his own, Craig’s Coffee and Vending Service. Later, he joined mom and dad to help them manage their used car dealership, A.W. Enterprise. Craig, like his dad, had the gift for sale.
He was always extremely warm and friendly with a big heart. He was always networking, trying to connect people to fill a need, whatever it was. He made friends easily.
Most would agree that he was a very good-looking guy with a beautiful smile and a lot of charm. Craig had a deep need to be connected with family and friends of which he had many. He loved his children; he loved fishing in the gulf.
He loved getting the whole family together at the farm or getting a group together for a trip to Mexico. He was very giving of himself and was always networking, trying to connect people to fill a need. Craig was extremely close to mom and dad and when dad passed in 2015, he felt the need to be there to help and protect mom.
Craig was always very devoted to staying in shape and he dedicated a lot of tie in the gym over the years. He was extremely strong, but for whatever reason, he came to develop some worrisome issues with his heart in the last couple of years, which had been ongoing and had apparently progressed, but he did not let on about it until it was too late. He died on October 24, 2018, at the young age of 56, due to complications from his heart, liver, and kidney failure.
I can’t express the deep sense of sorrow and loss we have experienced. It was so unexpected and shock and disbelief have not left us. Craig was preceded in death by our dad, Andy Poe Wooten, Jr., and by our niece, Misty Wooten.
He leaves behind his mother, Mary Ann Wooten, his daughter, Caila Adkins, and husband Malcolm, his son, Craig Anthony Wooten, Jr., and his granddaughter Andie Paige Adkins. He also leaves behind his sister Linda Robinson and husband, Larry, his brothers Andy J. Wooten and wife, Susan, and Terry Wooten and wife, Margaret, along with numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he sincerely loved. Craig did not fear death; he openly professed his deep faith in God.
Our only solace and comfort is knowing that out beloved brother is no longer struggling, but is in his eternal home basking in the glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Until we meet again little brother. We will always cherish our beautiful and wonderful time and memories of you.
