Curtis “Curt” Punton of Absaraka, ND passed away Sunday March 10th at Sanford Hospital in Fargo with his Daughter and Grandson by his side. He was born April 10th 1929 to Fern Anderson And William Punton in Ayr, ND. Curt met the love of his life, Nellie Punton, in 1954 and were married on August 13th 1956.

They spent over 50 years together in Fargo and Absaraka. Curt and Nellie were rarely apart and enjoyed many adventures together. They are happily reunited in peace.

Curt grew up on a farm in Ayr, ND. Curt was in the army in the Korean War. He worked at Branicks in Fargo for many years.

He moved to Absaraka with his family in 1962 and Curt was a fixture in Absaraka, opening his own shop and working as a blacksmith for 57 years. Curt’s customers were very important to him and he would go above and beyond for anyone who needed him. Curt loved his family, playing bingo, watching country westerns and telling the greatest stories and jokes ever heard.

His kids and grandkids were the biggest joys of his life and he loved visiting with them. Curt is survived by his three Daughters: Cathy (David) Wilson Winston-Salem, NC; Carol (Lewie) Lindeman West Fargo; Shirley (Jim Cain) Voelker Poway, CA; one Son: John (Val Knudson) Anderson Bullhead City, AZ, eight Grandsons: Christopher; Matthew Wilson Winston-Salem NC; Jim (Lisa), David Lindeman ND; Scott (Susan) Anderson England; Michael Anderson Fargo; David, Kevin Oberg MN, three Granddaughters Jody (Brent) Engler, Barrett MN; Mary, Caroline Oberg MN; Twenty-Two Great Grandkids; two Great Great Grandkids and countless beloved friends. Curt was preceded in death by his Parents, His Grandparents Tom and Daisy Punton, Brother Billy, Wife Nellie, Granddaughter Tammy, and Grandsons CJ and Johnny.

He will be missed by his village but will forever be in our hearts. The family would like to thank Sanford West Hospital 6th floor for their incredibly attentive and compassionate care he received. Visitation: Friday, March 15, 2019 from 6-7 and a 7pm open sharing; at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Funeral: Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2pm at West Funeral Home, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior to the service.
