OBITUARY Curtis Alan Siebenthall June 30, 1929 – October 28, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Dr. Curtis Alan Siebenthall, of Hurst, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 28 in Bedford, Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother-in-law, uncle, Poppy, friend, LPC, Associate Professor, woodturner, and Historian to all that knew and loved him. Alan graduated from Midwestern University in 1951 with Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a double minor in Chemistry and Mathematics.

He served as Civilian Instructor with the U.S. Air Force from 1951 – 1953, returned to Wichita Falls High school where he graduated to serve as mathematics teacher from 1953-1955 and Alan went to work at Phillips Petroleum in 1953 as Chemist. He went from teaching math to school counselor at Wichita Falls High School from1955-1965. In 1955, he earned his Master’s degree from Midwestern University; his major was in Administrative Education and his minor was in Mathematics.

From 1966 – 1969, Alan was the Director of counseling at Wichita Falls ISD. While working on his Doctorate degree from the University of North Texas, he served as Counselor at Stricklin Jr. High in Denton. In 1972 Alan earned his Ed.

D in Counseling and Student Services and his minor was Psychology. The same year, he began his tenure at Tarrant County (Junior) College as Counselor and Advisor; he was also Associate Professor of Mathematics. He also had a private practice from 1976 – 1991.

Alan retired from education in 1991. At that time, he focused his talent and attention to woodturning and, as member of Woodturners of North Texas, he began showing his wares in art and craft shows in the area. He remained a student of the craft, learning to make new things all the time; but he also retained his love of teaching as he enjoyed inspiring and teaching others, most notably his close friend and like an adopted son, David Miller.

Alan also lived out his passion for family serving as Historian for his family and his wife Jane’s. He loved to research and report the history of family; family vacations very often included trips through courthouses flipping through birth, marriage, and death records. Alan is survived by wife Jane Siebenthall, daughter Becky Compton, son-in-law, Wyatt, and Granddaughter, Gracie, all of Hurst, TX, Son David Siebenthall and Granddaughter Avery Jean Siebenthall of Bedford, TX, numerous nieces and nephews and several close friends he considered his family, most notably Billie and Marvin Willis of Mansfield and their children, Dr. John Willis of Mansfield and Debbie Willis of Fort Worth.

The visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00pm on Wednesday, 10/31 at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 on Thursday, 11/1 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel Interment will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to support Tarrant County College Foundation scholarships that assist students with financial need.
