Curtis Earl Bettini, 95, of Aberdeen, passed away on January 31, 2019 at his home. A native of Durham he was a son of the late Charles Obert and Sadie Mae (Clark) Bettini. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army.

He was a general contractor and owned and operated Bettini Construction until his retirement 1992. Curt was proud of his service to our country and met weekly with other WWII veterans for breakfast as long as his health would allow him. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Southern Pines where he served as a deacon for many years and on various other committees.

He was also very active in community outreach and missions. Curt spent most of his life doing residential construction. He built many houses throughout Moore County including, CCNC, Seven Lakes, Whispering Pines and other areas.

One of his most memorable projects was building the Cameron Boys Camp. In 1993 he was recognized for the work and generous support he had given to the camp by having the counselor’s lodge named the “Curtis Bettini Lodge”. He also served as Trustee for the Camp for many years.

Curt was also a master woodworker. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Josephine Smith Bettini and a sister Margaret Fulton. He is survived by his two daughters.

Barbara Jo Bettini-Presnell and husband Tim of Charleston, SC, Mary Katherine Bettini of Aberdeen, NC; son, Larry Michael Bettini and wife Jackie of Aberdeen, NC; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019, 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Southern Pines with the Rev. David Helms officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will follow with military honors at the Pinelawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Camp Duncan Girls Camp or Cameron Boys Camp c/o Baptist Children’s Home of NC, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27360.
