Obituary for Curtis Holmes Curtis Holmes was born September 24, 1948 in Calhoun County, Florida. He was the fifth child of eight children born to Artieve and Amos Holmes Sr. The family moved to Lakeland, Florida, where he completed his early education from William A. Rochelle High School. Curtis moved to Detroit, Michigan where he began his working career for Chrysler Corporation in 1967.

He started at the Foundry, and finally at Trenton Engine as a Machine Operator. After retirement, he worked 15 years with Pendergrass Security. Earlier in his life, Curtis had an affiliation with St. Rose A.M.E. Church in Grand Ridge, Florida.

When he lived in Lakeland, Fl. Curtis attended Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Finally after moving to Detroit, MI Curtis joined Prince of Peace Baptist Church.

Curtis fell in love and married Sherry Glover in 1973. Together they raised one son, David Glover. Curtis was very quiet by nature but a living man.

He loved his family and always pout his family first. Curtis loved each of his jobs, also gardening, but most of all, fishing was his passion. Any opportunity he could, he would go fishing.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents Artieve and Amos Holmes Sr., his brother Amos Holmes, and sister Lois Bennett. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sherry Holmes; his son David Glover; two grandsons: David Glover Jr. and Christian Glover; five siblings: Eugene (Mary) Holmes and Lloyd (Annette) Holmes, both of Lakeland, FL, Andrew Holmes and Carries Echols both of Detroit, MI and Shirley (George) Greene of Romulus, MI; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ned (Sandra) Sanders, father-in-law, Fred Henderson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
