Cynthia Akdag of Bonita Springs, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, May 22, 2019 at the age of 76 years after a lengthy illness. Cynthia is preceded by her parents Kirk and Natalie (Grinnell) Hanson. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Tacettin (Taci) Akdag and their two children; Sare Akdag of Victoria, BC Canada and Kirk (Marialena) Akdag of Marblehead, MA.

She is also survived by 3 wonderful grandchildren; Benjamin (Sare Akdag), Emmarose and Lucas (Kirk and Marialena Akdag), as well as her brothers Stephen Hanson of Naples, FL and Richard (Alice) Hanson of Center Harbor, NH, and sister Deborah (Thomas) Cathers of North Kingstown, RI. Cynthia lived most of her life in New England. She was raised in Barrington, Rhode Island and attended House in the Pines school in Norton, Massachusetts.

. She lived in Boston as a young woman, where she met her husband. She was a resident of Swampscott, Massachusetts for nearly 40 years.

It was in Swampscott that she raised her children with Taci. She created many memories with her family in this sea-side community, whether it was at the beach, on the boat, or in her neighborhood on a hill overlooking the ocean. She enjoyed fine dining and a well-made cocktail with friends.

Among Cynthia’s favourite pastimes was travelling the world. Her home was filled with art from her many trips to far away lands. Cynthia’s love of her family was followed by her love of animals, particularly dogs.

Many of her pets over the years were rescued from shelters. She gave as much comfort to them as they gave to her, especially in the final years of her life. In Lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, MA www.
