Dale Edward Roach, 78, of Scarborough, passed away on January 7, 2019. He was born in Houlton, Maine on October 1, 1940, the son of George and Jean (Marshall) Roach. He grew up in Houlton Maine graduating from Ricker Classical Institute in 1959 then attending Ricker College from 1960 – 1964.

Dale finished his academic career by attending the University of Cincinnati, graduating with a pre-medicine degree. Dale made a life-long career as a caring and compassionate funeral director for Dunn’s Funeral Home in Houlton, Hay & Peabody Funeral Home in Portland, and Hobb’s Funeral Home in South Portland. He also worked as a sterile processing technician at Maine Medical Center before retiring in 2012.

Dale served his country as a young man. He entered the Army in June 1964 then enlisted in the Navy from 1967 to 1970, serving during the Vietnam War. Dale is predeceased by his wife Patricia (Horton) Roach, son Mark George Edward Roach, and daughter, Susan (Roy) Bishop.

He is survived by his daughter Storm (Roach) Kelso and her husband Brad Kelso; Paula Brown and her partner Glenn Jones; son-in-law Mark Bishop; brother Peter Roach and his wife Dolly, and grandchildren Drew, Kassidy, Grace, Ava, and Jessica and her husband Jason. The family would like to thank all the staff at Pine Point Center in Scarborough for their excellent care and compassion during his illness. A graveside service will be held at Scarborough Memorial Cemetery in the spring.
