Dale Shortess January 19, 2019 Dale Stephen Shortess, 71, of Turtle Lake, died January 19, 2019 at Willow Ridge Healthcare. He was born August 1, 1947 in Barron, WI to Stephen and Marjorie (Barrett) Shortess. He was married to Mary Shiner, on February 12, 1995; whom he later divorced.

Dale was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical United Brethren Church, and was a member of the Parkview United Methodist Church. Dale was raised on a dairy farm where he created many fine memories. He then began a construction career; working in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Tennessee, Colorado, Alaska, California, Utah, and finally circling back to the Minneapolis area.

Dale’s gifts included singing, song writing (many of which will continue to be sung around family campfires), and writing letters to the editor of the Turtle Lake Times. His gift of singing will be fondly missed; as will his shining personality. Dale had an avid love for his country, and for those who served in the armed forces.

His unrelenting faith was a driving force for him throughout his life. Dale is survived by: 2 brothers, Wayne Shortess of Turtle Lake; Warren (Julie) Shortess of Hudson; 2 sisters, Sharon (Wayne) Dunemann of Rochester, MN; Daena Shortess (Jeff Wylie) of Frederic, WI; 9 nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; Stephen and Marjorie (Barrett) Shortess; one niece, Michelle Newville; one grand-niece: Stephanie Newville; and one sister-in-law: Sharon Shortess.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on January 24, 2019 at Parkview United Methodist Church, Turtle Lake, WI with Rev. Gil White officiating; with an hour visitation before the service. Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery, Turtle Lake, WI; there will be a lunch at the church following the service and burial.

Visitation from 4-7 PM on January 23, 2019 at the Skinner Funeral Home in Turtle Lake. Pallbearers are Joe Molls, Pat Jones, Bruce Moore, Jim Kasper, Dave Christianson, and Gordon Klingelhoets. Skinner Funeral Home of Turtle Lake is serving the family.
