Daniel “Dan” James Mooney, 38, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on December 9, 2018 at home of natural causes. A service in celebration of Dan’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Skellington Manor, 420 18th Street, Rock Island, Illinois. Following the service, a visitation will be held until 2:00p.m. A private family burial will at Davenport Memorial Park where Dan will be interred next to his brother Paul at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Dan was born on October 10, 1980, in Iowa City, to Paul E. and Athena (Spencer) Mooney III. Dan had a wide range of interests and talents.

He enjoyed music, collecting sports autographs and was a comic book nerd. Dan was a talented artist who practiced in a variety of mediums. Dan had a large group of close friends and his presence will surely be missed by all.

Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Athena; his father, Perri; his brother, Dylan K. Mooney; and his step-siblings, Ian Smith and Kitti Russell. Surviving are his grandparents, James and Wanda Spencer, Monie Mooney, and Archie L. Smith. Also surviving are Paul and Lonnie Mooney III and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
