Daniel Joseph Bassford, 69, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. Daniel was born to Joseph Daniel Bassford and Marcia Gohs Bassford on January 31, 1949 in Caro, MI. Daniel Graduated from Caro High School in 1967.

After high school he received a Mechanical Engineering degree from Western Michigan University and an MBA from Bowling Green State University. For most of his career Daniel used his mechanical engineering background for sales and marketing in the commercial trucking industry. The latter part of his career, he was President of Sanford Rose Executive Recruitment of Greensboro, NC. In October 2017, as his health declined, he and Janet moved to Fort Mill, SC to be closer to family.

Daniel was a member of the Greensboro Christ United Methodist Church and loved singing in their choir. He took great pride in being on the board of Music for a Great Space and enjoyed singing with the Greensboro Choral Society. He was a former member of the Crescent Rotary Club of Greensboro and enjoyed monthly Friday nights with his poker group.

His seven grandchildren knew him as “GDaddy” and cherish the early mornings when G-Daddy would take them, in their pajamas, to pick out their own donuts. He had a knack for silencing a crying baby, which his daughters loved. Daniel will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather; a lover of the beach and long walks with his beloved Yorkie, Cooper.

He leaves as his legacy three daughters: Christine (Greg) Harrell, Catherine (Todd) Papin, and Laura (Joshua) Meredith; Seven grandchildren, Sydney and Savannah Harrell, Hannah and Jeffrey Papin, and Caleb, Hunter, and Lana Meredith. Two aunts, Arlene Robinson of Caro, MI and Barabara Munger of Memphis, MI and one uncle, Fred Gohs of Garden Grove, CA. Dan has several cousins in Michigan and Texas.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Parkinson Association; Lewy Body Dementia Association; or the Christ United Methodist Church/Music Department, 410 Holden Rd. Greensboro, NC 27410. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm Friday, October 19, 2018 at Christ United Methodist Church of Greensboro, 410 N. Holden Rd.
