Daniel W. Babb, age 102, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Sunrise of Cascade where he was a resident for the past 11 years. Daniel was born on December 29, 1916 in Piedmont, Missouri, the son of Oscar and Caroline (Sanders) Babb. He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School following which he served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Tech Sergeant from 1945 to 1946.

Living in St. Louis, MO he was an avid sports fan, especially a huge supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals. Daniel was also very active in his church, the South Side Church of God in St. Louis. He worked for 42 years until his retirement as a Zone Manager for Kroger Grocery.

He and his wife came to Grand Rapids in 1990 to be close to his family. In 1991 he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Esther (Carroll) Babb. Surviving are his son, John Babb; grandson, Michael Babb; granddaughter, Christa Babb; great-grandson, D. J. Babb; great-granddaughters, Kamryn Babb and Cassidy Babb and great-great granddaughter, Gideon Babb.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and for one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. service on Tuesday at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Chapel. Chaplain Cheryl Lamport of Hospice of Michigan officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Kent County Honor Guard.

Entombment will be at Graceland Memorial Park.
