Danny Smothers, 76, of Evening Shade, passed away February 20, 2019 at Advanced Care Hospital in Searcy. He was born October 15, 1942 in Tennessee to the late Robert and Maddie Smothers. Mr. Smothers worked for the Blytheville Fire Department for 23 years, retiring in 1985 as the Fire Chief.

In retirement, he loved being outside, working in the yard, and fishing most of all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Smothers. He married Sherry Sisemore Smothers July 30, 1960 at Blytheville, Arkansas; she survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Teresa Oller (Rod) of Corinth, Texas; two sons, Alan Smothers of Hardy, Arkansas and Scotty Smothers (Becky) of Lakeview, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Jared, Josh, Justin, Matthew, Lukas, and Jesse; five great grandchildren, Allie, Colbie, Korie, Olivia, and Declan. No services are planned at this time.
