LODI-Darlene M. Hartmann, age 83, passed away on December 8, 2018. Darlene was born June 13, 1935, the second child of four born to Clarence and Margaret (Nehls) Thiele in Leeds, WI. She grew up helping on her parent’s dairy farm.

While at a dance, she met the love of her life, Russell Hartmann. They were married November 28, 1953. Russell also grew up on a dairy farm where he leaned the love of the land and animals.

Together, Russell and Darlene purchased their own farm and built a successful… Read More » dairy operation. They worked side by side, day after day. They were the happiest when working outside on the farm.

They raised four children with their same values of love, respect and responsibility. Darlene also found time to enjoy sewing, a love she passed down. She also knitted mittens, making a pair every year for each of her growing children, all without a pattern.

She crocheted beautiful baby afghans. She also enjoyed solving word puzzles and reading novels. Above all of this, she loved her husband and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Always having hugs and kisses for them. Darlene is survived by her children, Linda (Dionne) Babler, Roger, Shirley (Tom) Raisbeck; five grandchildren, Damion (Emily) Babler, Derick (Brooke) Babler, Tenesha (Derek) Rovinski, Chelsea Raisbeck, and Trevor Raisbeck; nine great-grandchildren, Marshal, Jessina, Danen, Adayla, Marliese, Carter, Evan, Easton and Harlan. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, Donna Thiele, Helen Frail, Marilyn (Tom) O’Donnell and brother-in-law, Harland (Lorraine) Hartmann.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell, on August 27, 2018; a son, Lloyd; sisters, Arlette Vander Molen and Eleanor Steen and brother, David Thiele. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 206 Pleasant St., Lodi at 11:00 a.m. with visitation prior to services starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
