Obituary for Darlene Riesberg Darlene Riesberg, age 84, of Halbur, died Tuesday morning, May 15, 2018, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur. The celebrant will be Fr.

Shinoj Jose. Music will be by Julie Sibbel, and the St. Augustine Choir. Mass Server will be Macy Schrad.

The lector will be Zach Riesberg. Sara Neumann, Kerri Trecker, Wendy Ipsen, and Katelyn Etscheidt will present the offertory gifts. Eucharistic Ministers will be Barb Sturm, Cheri Theulen, and Julie Eischeid.

Casket Bearers will be Mike Loeffelholz, Nathan Hugg, Zach Riesberg, Adam Wellington, Thomas Riesberg, Brandon Etscheidt, Alex Janning, Nic Muhlbauer, Ryan Loeffelholz, and Bill Turner. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at St. Augustine Church on Sunday after 3 p.m. where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 5 p.m. Additional visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. Monday morning.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Darlene’s family at www. sharpfuneral.com. Darlene was born on December 14, 1933 at Carroll, Iowa the daughter of Alois and Bertha (Bierl) Reineke.

She grew up on a farm near Coon Rapids, Iowa. Darlene married her first husband, Alvin Eischeid in 1952. Alvin passed away in 1964.

On November 27, 1970 Darlene married Donald Riesberg, and raised their 11 children together in Halbur. They were together for 47 wonderful years. Darlene was an amazing homemaker, and her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother is what she enjoyed the most.

Even with her struggles with her muscle disease, her strong faith and love and caring for her family remained her focus. Darlene enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, loved her flowers, and her garden, sewing keepsake teddy bears for the children, and she was known for her amazing pies, and sugar cookies that were sent all over the world to her family. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Augustine Ladies Guild, and Prayer Chain, and an active parishioner of St. Augustine Parish.

Left to celebrate Darlene’s life is her husband, Donald J. Riesberg of Halbur; children: Mary Jo (Jim) Hugg of Denison, Debbie (friend, Roger Downey) Muhlbauer of Arcadia, Sandy (Gary) Loeffelholz of Carroll, Sue (Mark) Etscheidt of Lexington, KY, Annette (Don) Wellington of Sac City, Linda (Rich) Tarplin of Falls Church, VA, Cindy (Scott) Janning of Carroll, Marianne Turner of Council Bluffs, Jane (Keith) Riley of Carroll, Jim (Anne) Riesberg of Carroll, Bill (Michelle) Riesberg of Boone; 34 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; her sister, Deanna (Bernie) Witt of Rochester, MN, and her brothers: Leroy (Carolyn) Reineke of Scranton, and Eugene (Terri) Reineke of Coon Rapids; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Alvin Eischeid; a son-in-law: Tony Muhlbauer, JR. , a grandson: James Curtis Hugg, Jr., a great-grandchild: Jake Stephen Muhlbauer, her parents: Alois and Bertha Reineke; a brother: Dennis Reineke, and a sister, JoAnne Venteicher.
