The Celebration of Life memorial service for Darrold Kern of Little Falls, and formerly of Staples, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena. Visitation with the family will be held at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Darrold passed away at the age of 61, on February 23, 2019, at Talahi Nursing Home in St. Cloud, MN.

Darrold was born to Peter and Elizabeth (Youngbauer) Kern on May 25, 1957, in Mayville, ND. He obtained his GED and continued his education to become an Electrical Lineman. Darrold was united in marriage with Connie Sue Schmitz on March 25, 1977 in Detroit Lakes.

He filled his hours away from work with hunting, fishing, working on cars, and helping anyone he could. He enjoyed his dogs and loved spending time with his family and friends at the cabin. Darrold was quick to laugh and could make anyone smile!

Darrold was preceded in death by his in-laws, Jake and Sis Schmitz. His memory will always be treasured by his devoted wife, Connie of Little Falls; mother, Elizabeth Kern of Perham; children Jason (Stacie) Kern of Little Falls and Jennifer (Stefan) Kern-Sieleni of Bloomington; granddaughter, Sophie Kern; and siblings Vicky (Dean) Ness, Joanne Kern, Theresa (Tim) Mann, Anna (Kevin) Kampsula, Diane (Michael) Diamond, Jim (Janet) Kern, Charlotte (Ken) Rader and Loretta (Hoyt) Peterson; along with a host of friends. Honorary urnbearers will be Darrold’s nieces and nephews.
