The memorial service for Dale Rachuy, age 86, of Eagle Bend, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend with Pastor Allen Mortenson presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. and will resume on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Dale passed away at the CentraCare Health – Long Prairie Care Center in Long Prairie on Wednesday, March 27, 2019.

Dale was born on February 16, 1933, to Louis and Esther (Farris) Rachuy in Nobles County. He graduated from Worthington High School. Dale was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1955, having served in the Korean War.

On February 20, 1960, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Weigand in Eagle Bend, MN. He had a passion for cars and woodworking. He remodeled several homes and loved making gifts for his family and friends.

Dale worked many jobs through-out his life, security for Burns Detective Agency and the Airforce Base, insurance agent, custodian and owned the school bus company. He was an active member of the Lions Club, VFW, Church Council and Eagle Bend City Council. As mayor of Eagle Bend, Dale helped bring the public library into town.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Esther; step-mother Mabel Hernwall (Rachuy); and sibling, Leyten Fontaine. Holding the memory of Dale forever in their hearts, his wife, Dorothy of Eagle Bend; children, Sheri (Jim) Ferdinandt of St. Augustine, FL, Mike (Anne) Rachuy of Lake Orion, MI, and Tammy (Paul) Cebulla of Browerville; siblings, Dene Rachuy, John (Cindy) Rachuy, Lonna Olson and sister-in-law June Fontaine, along with seven grandchildren. Urn bearer will be Norston Fontaine.

Honorary urn bearers will be Andrew, Nathan, and Madison Ferdinandt and Moriah, Isaac, Kaitlyn, and Asher Cebulla. Burial will take place in Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hilltop Regional Kitchen, Faith Lutheran Church and/or Quilts of Valor.
