Darryl R. Parker, 83, a lifelong Fairview Borough resident, passed away on Saturday afternoon, December 29, 2018 at the Chicora Medical Center. Darryl was born in Fairview Borough, Butler County, on November 22, 1935. He was the son of the late Richard A. and Hazel Work Parker.
He was a 1953 graduate of the Fairview Township Karns City High School. Following high school he was employed as a lab technician at Penreco in Karns City and retired following forty – two years of service. In 1958, he was drafted into the US Army where he traveled to many military bases as a medic.
Darryl enjoyed restoring antique hit and miss engines and taking them to area shows in Portersville, Saegertown, and Coolsprings, and driving his restored 1951 M-38 Military Jeep in the Chicora Memorial Day Parade. He was a member of the Karns City United Methodist Church, the Chicora Senior Center, the National Rifle Association, and was a life time member of the Butler County Hunting and Fishing Club. Darryl is survived by his wife, Mildred F. McMillin, whom he married at Mt.
Pleasant Church in Sugarcreek Township, on April 11, 1958, three children, Kimberly Miller and her husband, James, of Chicora, Beverly Bryan and her husband, Mark, of Slippery Rock, and Richard Parker, and his wife, Janet, of Petrolia. Six grandchildren, Travis Miller and his wife, Amanda, of Shelocta, Aeletha Romano and her husband, Mike, of Gibsonia, Ashley Brown and her companion, Chris Shaw, of Washington, Brady Brown of Slippery Rock, Dalton Parker and his fiancée, Rebecca, of Emlenton, and Brandy Parker of Bethel Park. Five great grandchildren survive, Parker, Ella, Kenzie, Lucy, and Alexa, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers in law, and sisters in law.
In addition to his parents, Darryl was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Parker. Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St. Karns City, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 11 o’clock on Wednesday with the Rev.
Jim Lewis, pastor of the Karns City United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia. Arrangements are under the direction of associate funeral director, Dalton R. Parker, Darryl’s grandson.
