Obituary for David A. Laehn David Arthur Laehn, 88, of Fond du Lac, died on Monday, September 10, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 21, 1930, in Fond du Lac, the son of Arthur and Margaret (Pucker) Laehn. He was a graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School.
He served in the National Guard for over 11 years. On July 4, 1956, he married the “Peg of his Heart”, Peggy Thurman, in Fond du Lac and they recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. David, along with his father, had owned and operated Laehn Music House for many years.
He worked for Mercury Marine, was a member of Church of Peace, Eagles Club, Elks, and Fond du Lac Yacht Club. David was a former chairman for the Town of Friendship. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He also was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, loved fishing and boating on Lake Winnebago, was a daily patron of Schreiner’s Restaurant for pancakes, and never turned down a good chicken dinner. He was a wonderful husband to his surviving wife, Peggy. He was a great father and is survived by his two children: son, Mark (Janet) Laehn of Muskego and his daughter Julie (Mike) Wuest of Sun Prairie.
He was an amazing Gramps and is survived by grandchildren: Matt (Stasha) Wuest of Fox Point; Lindsay (Shawn) Bartelt of Sun Prairie; Stephanie (Dan) Kwiatkowski of Kernersville, NC; and Brett Felchner of Portland, OR. He was a loving Gipa (Great-Grandpa) and is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Jackson, Elin, Sophie, and Lucie. He is further survived by: his sister, Carole (James) Megellas of Colleyville, TX; sister-in-laws, Lois Mabie of Fond du Lac and Joan (John) Balthazor of Waterford; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Robert and Rosalie Thurman, as well as his brother-in-laws, James and John Thurman, John Mabie and his sister-in-law, Marge Thurman. VISITATION: Friends may call on Monday, September 17, 2018, from Noon – 3:00 p.m. at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac. FUNERAL: Memorial service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel, with Chaplain Bill Schuerman officiating.
Cremation has taken place with a private inurnment to be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Church of Peace, Hospice Home of Hope, or a charity of one’s choice.
