Obituary for Mr. David Edward Gainey Private graveside services for Mr. David Edward Gainey, 81, will be held at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 18th, 2018 at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.

Mr. Gainey died peacefully on Monday, October 15th, 2018. He was born in Darlington County, SC, on September 1, 1937 to the late David B. and Sarah Vivian Gainey. He graduated from Hartsville High School and then from Carolina College of Commerce with a degree in Business.

He was a veteran that served in the Unites States Air Force. He worked at Perfection Gear for many years and later at the Hartsville Oil Mill. He enjoyed being ourdoors and spending time in his wood workshop.

He was a self-proclaimed carpenter and loved sharing his skills with his four grandsons, whether building a piece of furniture, an outdoor deck, or and all-boys clubhouse. Surviving are his wife, Rogerline O. Gainey of Hartsville, SC; daughters, Robin Wilks and Sandy (Tommy) McKenzie both of Hartsville, SC; grandsons, Edmond Wilks, Timothy Wilks, Daniel McKenzie, Matt McKenzie; great-grandson, Aidan McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his previous wives, Betty A. Gainey, Irene B. Gainey; son, Timothy Edward Gainey.
