Obituary of David Frederick McDonald David Frederick McDonald, 83, of Hampton Twp. , our patient, loyal, and most friendly father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, December 11, 2018. David was born in Pickford on April 24, 1935, the son of the late Melbourne and Agnes (Batho) McDonald.

While working at Consumers and on the picket line, David met the former Shirley Haske. Their first date was to the bowling alley, followed by a movie. David and Shirley were united in marriage on September 19, 1959 and their marriage was blessed with two children and countless memories.

David proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps and enjoyed hunting, golfing, and archery in his younger years, along with time spent in Pickford in the Upper Peninsula at the family cabin. More recently, David was an avid genealogist. His loyal and friendly ways will live on for generations to come.

David was the beloved husband of the late Shirley and loving father of the late LCDR Thomas (Devon) McDonald and William (Billie Jo) McDonald. His memory will live on in the hearts of his grandchildren, Rebecca (Matthew) Manzella, Kimberlee McDonald, Shay (David) Mathisen, and Shawn Booth. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Virginia, Lola, Chance, Kia, Silas, and Ophelia; sister, Irene Nettleton; sister-in-law, Bernice MacDonald; brothers-in-law, Gary (Sharron) Haske and David (Gail) Haske, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, wife, and son, David was welcomed home to heaven by his brother, Robert MacDonald; sisters, Freida and Barbara McDonald; nephew, Keith MacDonald, and brother-in-law, Leo Nettleton. David’s family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd. , Hampton Twp.

On Friday, December 14, 2018, David will be taken to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1705 Nebobish Ave. , Esville, where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until David’s 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony. Rev.

Erwin Hutter will officiate with private interment to be held in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Memorial contributions may be directed to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or the wishes of the family. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to The Care Team Hospice for their wonderful care.
