David Keith Hathaway, 95 years old, passed away at 7:49 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the home of his daughter. Mr. Hathaway was born on November 2, 1923 in Larwill, IN to the late Clinton P. and Anna M. (Rathburn) Hathaway. He has lived most of his life in Lakeville.

On December 9, 1943 in Warsaw, IN, David and Myrtle “Jane” Harper were united in marriage. Jane preceded him in death on May 6, 2005. Five sisters; six brothers; and his great grandson, James Dylan Blankenship, preceded in death.

Dave retired in 1991 as the owner and operator of Hathaway Oil Company. Previously, he worked for 23 years at Bellville Fuel; 11 years at Kokoku Wiring Company; as well as, Hoosier Tire. Dave has been a faithful member of Olive Branch United Brethren Church since 1957 where he served in many capacities.

He proudly served his country during WWII with the United States Army Air Forces. Dave was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8972 in Bremen and member of the Lakeville American Legion. He was a member of the Lakeville Conservation Club and served on the Union Township Advisory Board for 12 years.

Dave was an avid bowler, golfer and hunter, and enjoyed playing horseshoes. He was the recipient of the Man of the Year Award for Gleaners. Dave is survived by his four children, Ruth Ann (George) Leach of Hobart, IN, Peggy Jean (Ben) Yeo of Bremen, Karen Elaine (James) Blankenship of Lafayette, TN, and D. Keith (Jane) Hathaway of Millersburg, IN; 15 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville. Pastor Wesley Skiles will officiate. Military graveside services and burial will follow at Porter Rae Cemetery, North Liberty.

Friends may visit with the family from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19th, at the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville and one hour prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of David Keith Hathaway may be donated to Olive Branch United Brethren Church, 22750 Osborne Road, Lakeville, IN 46536 or to the VFW Post 8972, 1750 W.
