OBITUARY David U. Kim May 29, 1932 – September 17, 2018 David Ung Chon Kim was called home by the Lord on September 17, 2018. He was born May 29, 1932 in Choon Chun South Korea. David immigrated to the United States in 1965.

It was in Pennsylvania where he met his wife of 49 years, Helen Kim. Together, they moved from Pennsylvania to Indiana to Texas to Rhode Island, and back to Texas in retirement. They traveled together and were inseparable.

David loved the Lord and his family. He enjoyed spending time with his only grandchild. They created many treasured memories together.

Aside from being a loving husband, father, and grandfather, David was an avid reader, handyman, gardener, and techie. He also enjoyed swimming and walking. David obtained a masters degree from Villanova University and a doctorate from Indiana University and enjoyed a long career in academia.

Prior to coming to the United States, David fought for the South Korean Army, where he reached the rank of major. He served as president of the Houston Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association. He also served as an elder at the Korean Christian Church of Houston.

David is survived by his wife, Helen, son, Doug, daughter-in-law, Dianna, grandson, Matthew, brother-in-law, Daniel Yun and his wife, Rebecca, and their children, Sam Yun and his wife, Jan, Lois Kim and her husband, Andy, Caroline Mei and her husband, Hsiao Tung, and Judi Stemmler and her husband, David. He was preceded to Heaven by his parents, Jong Sik Kim and Jang Soon Song.
