Obituary for David Wayne Spaulding “Funny Dave” David Wayne Spaulding, 77, “Funny Dave” passed peacefully at home following an extended illness. David was a veteran of the United States Army, then built custom homes throughout Madison County and spent 41 years at Delco Remy retiring out of Plant 20. He raised champion Newfoundland’s and was a member of the Newfoundland Club of America and South Central Newfoundland Club.

He enjoyed 40 years at their cottage on Little Barbee and “the lakes”. David is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda (Hedges) Spaulding of Anderson; son, Randy (Mary Beth) Spaulding; daughters, Andrea (Rusty) Gray and Nicole Spaulding; grandchildren, Zachary, Alexandria, Doug, Samantha, Ashley, 2LT Michael, Jordan and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Drake; brothers-in-law, Harry (Kay) Hedges, Joe Hedges; brother, Jerry (Ellen) Spaulding; several nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends Gary and Diane Woodsides and family. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Adela “PeeWee” Spaulding; father, George Spaulding; grandmother, Lydia Bischoff, four brothers and sister-in-law Marjorie Nelson.

David and family would like to acknowledge special handler for their Newfs, Cheri. The family would also like to thank Nurse Leanne and Therapist Diane for taking good care of him. There will be a private service at a later date.
