OBITUARY David West November 4, 1954 – December 6, 2018 David S. West of Wichita Falls, died on Thursday, December 6th 2018 at the age of 64. A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Dean in Dean, Texas at 10:00 am on Monday, December 10th. Visitation services will be held at Hampton Vaughan Crestview from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, December 9th.

David West was born on November 4, 1954 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Robert and Thelma West. David graduated from Rider High School in 1973. A natural people-person from the beginning, he found his personality served him well for many years as a pawn broker at Sloan’s Loans in Downtown Wichita Falls and then later as manager of their pawn shop across from Sikes Senter Mall.

In the late 1990s, he left Sloan’s and worked various jobs until he landed at Moore Sales Company in Burkburnett for several years. In 2014, David was hired by the North Texas State Hospital where he worked as a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant until illness prevented his continued service. David described his job at the State Hospital as one that he absolutely loved and one he wished he had started a long time ago.

In the few years he served as a PNA, David made numerous, impactful connections and close friendships with his coworkers. He was known for his ever-present smile and impeccable sense of humor that he used with the purpose of ensuring every one of his patients and coworkers had their best day possible. Most will remember David for his free-spirit, his positive attitude, and his genuine friendship to all he met.

He found joy in making other people smile each day, whether that be at work, at one of his regular stomping grounds after work, or just waiting in line with strangers somewhere. He shared nicknames and humorous inside jokes with so many friends because he knew that made them feel special and loved. David kept his incredible sense of humor and positive attitude to the very end, telling jokes, sharing funny memories, and brightening the day for anyone who came to visit or care for him.

David was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dean. He was a believer in Jesus Christ, and he was comforted with the knowledge that he would one day be in the presence of his Lord and Savior. David is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mina West of Dean; his son Eric West and wife Deandra of Wichita Falls; step-daughter Suzanne Ellis and husband Rusty of Holliday; step-daughter Kelly Gardner of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and 8 grandchildren.

David is also survived by his brother Robert G. West and wife Marsha of Fort Worth.
