DAWN’s Obituary Dawn Ann Marie (nèe Layton) Blanchard, 57, died Monday, May 13, 2019 in Antioch, IL. She was born October 22, 1961 in Waukegan, IL to the late William James Layton and Elaine Ann (nèe Nobilio) Layton. Dawn is survived by her husband, James Blanchard; sister, Dina (Rik) Cannon; daughters Jamie Lee Loggains, Chantal Marie Loggains, Destiny (Joshua) Blanchard Gonet, and Dominique Janine Blanchard; grandchildren, Kaylee, Alysha, Ryker, and Ryleigh.

She met her husband, James, in December of 1991, and they have had a happy and fulfilling marriage for 27 years. After working in the restaurant industry for many years, she became the Director of Operations at Richmond DM Services. She was a member of the Chapel in Grayslake, IL where she served in various ministries.

During her recovery in AA, she touched hundreds of lives by sharing her strength, hope, and experience, and by sponsoring others. She was selfless; always putting everyone before herself, even when she was suffering. She never hesitated to lend support, wisdom, and encouragement to family and friends.

Her free time was spent boating on the Chain O’ Lakes, cooking, and rocking out to Steven Tyler & Stevie Nicks in her beloved Cowgirl boots. She devoted her time, love, and energy to her children & grand babies, who always kept her laughing and smiling. She taught them how to dance to Michael Jackson, how to make her famous meatballs, and how to live life to the absolute fullest.

She loved being in nature, whether it was the beautiful landscape of Montana where one day she hoped to live, or in the UP where she spent her birthday hiking up to the waterfalls. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until 3:00PM Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. Antioch, IL 60002, with a Memorial Service commencing at 3:00PM.
