Debra Kaye Buhs was born November 24, 1951 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. She passed on February 26, 2019 in Chandler, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years young. She made Chandler her hometown after following her family who were called to ministry at Willow Springs Boys Ranch leaving a host of friends and loved ones in Midwest City and her extended family at Old Homestead.
She made new friends easily and established a life of friendships and contacts easily in Chandler. She was known for her sweetness, her fire, her stubbornness and of course her unique laugh. “Little Debbie” loved life.
The world can be cruel and unforgiving, but she fought to enjoy all the wonderfulness that this world does offer. She found joy in each day and in many, many, people to even tiny seemingly inconsequential moments all in the face of great disability. Unfortunately, loving life and enjoying the little things came with great effort as for many years every moment was shared with multiple health issues and immense pain.
It is hard to imagine the unharnessed laughter and adventures she would have shared if not tempered by the limitations of these impairments. She no doubt was an extremist – intensely emotional from anger to untempered love. So sweet and kind and when felt she or others were wronged a force to be reckoned with!
Giving and gracious – yet bordering on the diagnosis of a hoarder, there was not a “Typical” Debbie moment! ! She would have made a temporary millionaire if she had won a lottery because it would have not lasted long.
She would have done for others, experienced life with others and accomplished what would have to be an extensive bucket list. Simply put she truly enjoyed what life had to offer and lived the fullest through simple pleasures. She is preceded in death by both her parents, Rosa Lee (Lavendu) and William Clayton Scates; her brother, “Wild Bill” William Clayton Jr. and of course her beloved son, “Stevie” Steven Edward Buhs whom she never stopped missing.
Debbie is survived by her son and his wife, Hershel Wayne and Jennifer Allen of Chandler, Oklahoma; her daughter and her husband, Kristi Lynn and John Miks of Yukon; two sisters, Barbara Louise Swinney of Clinton and Sherri Lynn Seifert of Middleton, Idaho and brother, “Bob” Robert Lee Mobley of Payette, Idaho. She is also survived by other special family members including Josh Buhs, Sarah Allen, Carly and special nephew, Benjamin Merle Eaves and his family and perhaps the joy of her life her grandchildren; Kelsie Kayleen Allen, Riley Waltz Allen, Stevie Nicole Allen, Delana Nichole Miks, Brendan Nicolas Miks, Keegan Scott Buhs, Naomi Elizabeth Buhs, Abigail Alese Buhs , Conner Anthony Wade Criqui and Allie Ray Cirqui. Family, friends and others that were able to share life experiences with Debbie are invited to honor her on Saturday, March 2nd at 11:00 AM at OK Cremation and Funeral Home Chapel located at a 2415 N. Walnut, OKC, OK 73105 with services officiated by Pastor Cary Monaco of Liberty Baptist Church of Chandler, Oklahoma.
