OBITUARY Deena Anderson Andres August 4, 1928 – November 12, 2018 Deena Anderson Andres, of Houston, died Monday, November 12, 2018 at age 90 surrounded by her family and loving friends. She was born in Tom Green County, Texas, August 4, 1928 to Claude Milton Anderson and Edith Williams Anderson. Deena was the 1944 valedictorian graduate of Eola High School, and graduated from the University of Texas, receiving a BA in History and Journalism.

Upon graduation, Deena worked as a journalist for the San Angelo Standard Times and later as secretary for the Operations Division of the Texas Highway Department and various law firms. An avid and award winning needle artist, Deena was a long-time member of the Houston chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America. Her six friends of many decades continued to spend time together stitching with Deena monthly through October of this year.

Smart, savvy, gifted at decorating and selling houses, gardening and planting a cotton field, cooking, stitching, political argument and loving her family and friends, we will remember Deena as an amazing woman, impossibly competent at doing most anything and doing it well. Deena was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Anthony Andres, her son Kevin Michael Andres, and her beloved partner of later years, Edmund Goscin. She is survived by her brother Andy Anderson, “Pete” and his wife Sally of Marble Falls, Texas; her nephew Jeffrey Milton Anderson, his wife Dana, and their children, Cade and Caylan Anderson; her stepson, Dr. Louis Howard Andres Cox, his wife Kathryn, and their children Michael, Sarah, and Caroline of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and her companion and dear friend, Jola Kalitynska, her daughter Natalia Rawle, her husband, Edmund Rawle and their children, Izabela and Alexandra.

Deena’s funeral service will be held at Temple Sinai, 13875 Brimhurst Dr. Houston, Texas, 77077, to be officiated by the Reverend Nan Doerr of Emmanuel Episcopal Church at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, with a graveside service to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. FAMILY Deena is survived by her brother Andy Anderson, “Pete” and his wife Sally of Marble Falls, Texas; her nephew Jeffrey Milton Anderson, his wife Dana, and their children, Cade and Caylan Anderson; her stepson, Dr. Louis Howard Andres Cox, his wife Kathryn, and their children Michael, Sarah, and Caroline of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and her companion and dear friend, Jola Kalitynska, her daughter Natalia Rawle, her husband, Edmund Rawle and their children, Izabela and Alexandra.
