Delaine V. Heckman, 79, of Pomona, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Olathe Medical Center. Cremation is planned. No services are scheduled.

Private family inurnment will be held later at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Delaine was born January 26, 1939, at Ottawa, the son of David Wesley Sr. and Ethel Mae (Heinis) Heckman. He was a lifelong Franklin County resident.

He graduated from Williamsburg High School and attended Ottawa University. Delaine… Read More » served in the National Guard. Delaine was united in marriage to Betty Jean Atchison May 28, 1971.

She preceded him in death on December 30, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents, David and Ethel Heckman; son, Heath Heckman; and brother David Heckman, Jr. Survivors include his two sisters, Judith Schurle and Patricia Livengood both of Pomona; sister-in-law, Betty Channel of Franklin County; and several nieces and nephews. He delivered papers for the Ottawa Herald and drove a mail route for Williamsburg and Pomona.

Delaine’s latest job was at Auto Zone in Ottawa. He loved watching westerns and Fox news. Family and friends are encouraged to post their condolences and memories on Delaine’s Tribute Wall at www.
