Obituary for Delbert L. Wills Delbert L. Wills, age 86, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 7, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley. Rev.
Terry Simm officiating. Burial to follow at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley. Visitation will be Thursday, December 6, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.
Delbert Logan Wills was born on September 21, 1932 in Rushmore, Minnesota. He was the son of Logan and Winnie (Kruse) Wills. He lived his youth on a farm in rural Sibley, Iowa where he attended a country school.
Delbert worked at Horton Chevrolet in Sibley before entering the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Frances Janie Janssen of Sibley, on March 7, 1953 at the country Lutheran Church, west of Sibley. Delbert then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Korea and Japan.
When Delbert returned from over-seas, he and Frances lived in Sibley where he worked for the government measuring and cleaning bins. They settled near Cloverdale, Iowa, where they farmed. At age 65, he got his captain license for the Village Princess at Lake Okoboji and conducted the Arnolds Park train.
He kept busy with various jobs including Jeddeloh Ford and at the Clay County Fair. Delbert always had a story or funny joke to tell. He supported all of his grandchildren’s extra-curricular activities attending as many as possible.
The most important part of his life was his faith and family. He served as a Trustee, Deacon, and Elder at the First Presbyterian Church, Sibley, Ia. He enjoyed the various church groups he and Frances were involved in.
Sunday evenings were a special time spent together with family on the farm, including his favorite pet, Mollie the Collie! He passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Sibley Specialty Care. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 65 years, Frances Wills of Sibley, IA; his five daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Roger Meyer of Rock Rapids, IA, Diane and Mike Remakel of Worthington, MN, Darla and John Linquist of Sibley, IA, Denise and Tom Kuiper of Sibley, IA, Donna and Mike Schoonhoven of Hospers, IA; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Lorn and Joan Wills of Sanborn, IA; one sister, Dorothy Schilling of Westminster, CO; 2 brothers-in-law, Alvin Jurrens of Sibley, IA and Harold and his wife Ruby Janssen of Sibley, IA; 2 sisters-in-law, Sharon Wills of Sheldon, IA and Gloria Wills of Sibley, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Logan and Winnie Wills; 3 brothers, Russell Wills, Lyle Wills, and Lynn Wills, and one sister, Marlys Jurrens.
