Obituary for Dennis Frederick Witz, Ph.D. WITZ, DENNIS F., PhD Of Portage Dennis Frederick Witz, age 79, passed away peacefully April 24, 2018 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence surrounded by his family. Dennis was born December 10, 1938 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Louis and Laura (Burgemeister) Witz. He completed his undergraduate studies at Carroll College and then his doctorate in Microbiology at the University of Wisconsin.

Dennis was then employed at Upjohn Pharmaceuticals for 31 years in the 1400 Unit Bioprocessing Department. In his spare time, Dennis enjoyed bowling, camping, family vacations, model trains, fish and birds. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter Wendy DeBoer.

Surviving are his children Ben Witz of Altoona, WI, Dawn Witz of Portage, Brian (Missy) Witz of Kalamazoo; his grandson Aaron Martindale of Portage and other family members. In accordance with Dennis’ wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Dennis’ life will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, April 27th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave.

with Pastor James Dyke officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Friday. A private family interment will be held in Portage Central Cemetery later.
