Dennis Gail Lundgren, age 78, died April 29, 2018 at Fort Wayne’s VA Northern Indiana Hospital. He was born in a two-room log cabin in Pembine, Wisconsin on April 15, 1940. His parents, Martha Filbert and Gail Lundgren, and his brother, Larry Lundgren, Sr., all preceded him in death.

Dennis attended schools in Elkhart and graduated from Elkhart High School in 1958. He served in the United States Air Force for eight years and was called to Vietnam twice before being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. During this time, he continued his education through the United States Armed Forces Institute (USAFI).

After serving, he knocked around the trailer industry and owned WynDell Corporation. He held positions of service and sales manager and was a national service representative for several companies. In the mid-1970s, Dennis took up computer programming and system design.

He retired from ITT ACD in January 1996. At that time, he was assisting his wife with the manufacture of custom window treatments and selling window blinds. He was commonly known around Warsaw as the “Blind Man”.

He was lifetime member of VFW Post 1126 and American Legion Post 49 as well as a Mason. In 1983, Dennis married Cathy (nee Shear), who survives him in Warsaw. They have a loving, blended family which includes children: Lori (Michael) Coen of Peoria, AZ, Leslie (Mark) Saiz of Batavia, Ill.

, Christopher Aker of Warsaw, Courtney (Troy) King of Warsaw and Christine Ballinger of Kalamazoo, MI, seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Joan Erwin of South Bend, also survives. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 5th at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw.

Being fond of wood crafting, Dennis built a solid pine, pegged box without nails or screws in which he will be cremated, per his wishes. Burial with military honors will be held privately in Oakwood Cemetery following cremation.
