A 1973 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School.

As a member of Tabernacle Christian Church he served in the Male Chorus and Combined Choir. Dennis is survived by his wife Lillie Mae Parker of Suffolk and preceded in death by his father, Booker T. Parker, brothers Colangelo (Butch) Parker and Tyrone Parker. He leaves to Cherish his memories, his wife Lillie Mae Parker, his mother, Mattie Mae Parker, his children, Gladys O. Parker, Petersburg VA, Michael Parker, Newport News, VA, Tyrone Parker (Desiree), Suffolk, VA, Step Children LaRhonda Outlaw (Warren) and Clarence Whitley Jr. both of Suffolk.

his brothers, Larry D. Parker (Denise), Abingdon, MD, and Terry A. Parker (Gloria), Fairfield, OH, his sisters, Beverly Robinson, Mary L. Cross, Barbara Peterson (Michael), Suffolk and Dorothy Watkins (Osceola), Chesapeake. Uncle, Robert Carter Windsor, NC, Aunt Ruth Holliman, New Britain, CT, grandchildren (10) and a host of family members and friends. The most inspiring thing Dennis shared was his love for his wife Lillie, showering her with the love she never felt and showing her how important she was to him.

Immediately following was his love for his mother Mattie Mae Parker affectionately known as “Cook”, as he called her. Dennis called and visited his mom daily and didn’t fall asleep until he was sure mom was safe and secure in her home. His biggest contribution to life was raising 3 children (1 niece and 2 nephews).

Dennis made sure Gladys, Tyrone, and Michael Parker were brought up in the church; he showed them unconditional love. He showered them with the gift of love and devotion; totally committed to ensuring their well-being. He loved all of us in a way that you knew you were loved and protected.

Dennis aka “DP” is well known and loved by many. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with family and friends or just sitting on his mother’s front porch making everyone laugh. His level of unconditional love far surpasses that of many.

Dennis is a well devoted husband, father, son, brother, cousin, and friend. He wasn’t content until everyone in his presence was happy and joyful. Dennis is well respected and was the community MENTOR to many kids in his neighborhood.

He surrounded them with love and shared all his knowledge of what being a man is all about. Many kids called him uncle “D” because he was the father figure in their life. Dennis was an employee at KraftHeinz/Planters at the time of his death, completing 45 years of service to this monumental place here in downtown, Suffolk.

He worked different capacities to include but not limited to Team Leader, Forklift Driver, Blanching Operator, and maintenance in 113 Blanching Department. He was well respected and admired in each of his roles. Dennis had many friends that he would do anything in his power for.

His best friend, of all times, is Frank Lowther; their bond was like no other. They had their own language; no words had to be spoken. They were inseparable in and outside of work; every joy and hardship were shared.

Dennis would want Frank and anyone who knew him to know, Frank was his brother. In closing, I could never say or write enough to express the love we have for this Incredible, Loving, Warm Spirited, and God-fearing man. Dennis you will forever be missed and always in our hearts.

You left a legacy for your family to follow. A celebration of life will be held noon, December 28, 2018 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Bishop Carlton Upton Sr., will deliver the message of comfort.

He will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
