Obituary for Dewey Allen Chancey Sr. Dewey Allen Chancey Sr. Lakeland – Dewey Allen Chancey Sr., 73, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018. Dewey was born in Palatka, FL on August 26, 1945 to the late Fred and Miriam Chancey. He was a graduate of Palatka High School in 1965 then attended St. Johns River Community College.

Later joining the military and became a member of the United States Coast Guard. Eventually settling in Lakeland, FL to raise a family with former spouse, Shirley. Dewey started a career in waste water and water management.

He enjoyed bowling, sports, music and VWs as his hobbies. He is survived by his sons Dewey Chancey Jr. and Stephen Chancey. Siblings Barry (Gail) Hedrick, Charlene Longworth, Ray (Susan) Gerbich, Jimmy Perry, many nieces, nephews and cousins and close family friends Sara Brooks and Amber Farrow.

Preceded in death by his honorary brother Larry Brooks. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm with a 7:00pm Memorial Service at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, 3350 Mall Hill Dr. Lakeland, FL 33810. There will also be a Celebration of Life at 8:00pm at Orange Bowl Lanes, 4318 US Hwy 98 North, Lakeland, FL.
