Dewey was born on October 16, 1945 in Bryson City to the late Hannah Ball Dewey is preceded in death by his mother; two brothers, Harold and Cass Ball and sister, Helen Ham. Dewey is survived by three brothers, James Ball of Oregon, Tommy Ball of Virginia, Richard Ball of Cherokee, NC; sister, Sue Parks of Lenoir.
